Created to keep young talent here in our area to work and live, Avenue Scholars Southwest Iowa operates an internship program each summer. Avenue Scholars partners with local businesses to offer eight-week paid internships in a variety of career fields. These internships are mutually beneficial - Avenue Scholars with business partners to fill a business need and the students are afforded real-life, hands-on career experiences.
Prior to participating in an internship, students will complete a college-level professional skills course, as well as programming that requires them to engage in career coaching and grow more self-aware throughout the experience. The work they do on the job will be supplemented by consistent, professional coaching from a staff coach.
With Avenue Scholars internship program, students gain the education and experience necessary to transform into prepared, successful employees.
